Ingredients

2 cups Bisquick mix

  • The star of the show! This pre-made mix makes it so easy to whip up dumplings without any hassle.

1/2 cup milk

  • Adds just the right amount of moisture to create a soft smooth dough.

2 tablespoons melted butter

  • For that rich flavor and tender texture.

1/4 teaspoon salt

  • To enhance all the natural flavors and bring everything together.

Optional: 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder or herbs

  • If you want to give your dumplings an extra kick feel free to season them with a little garlic powder, dried thyme, or parsley.

Instructions

Prepare the Dumpling Dough

  • In a large bowl, combine the Bisquick mix, milk, melted butter, and salt. If you’re adding any optional seasonings like garlic powder or herbs, now’s the time! Stir everything together just until it forms a soft dough. Be careful not to overmix—this keeps your dumplings light and airy.

Heat Your Broth

  • While your dough is resting, bring your broth (vegetable, chicken, or beef) to a simmer in a large pot. The broth will serve as the base for cooking your dumplings, so choose a flavorful one that will complement the dumplings. Once it’s hot, lower the heat to a gentle simmer.

Drop the Dumplings

  • Using a spoon or a cookie scoop, drop spoonfuls of the dumpling dough into the simmering broth. Don’t overcrowd the pot—about 6-8 dumplings at a time is perfect. They’ll expand as they cook, so give them a little space!

Cook the Dumplings

  • Cover the pot with a lid and let the dumplings cook for about 10-12 minutes. Resist the urge to peek! The steam is what helps the dumplings rise and cook all the way through. After 10 minutes, gently check one by inserting a toothpick—it should come out clean when the dumplings are done.

Serve and Enjoy

  • Once the dumplings are fully cooked, use a slotted spoon to transfer them to a plate. Serve them alongside your favorite stew, soup, or roast for a complete, comforting meal.
