  • Chef's knife

Ingredients

Sandwich Base

  • 2 slices bread sourdough, whole grain, rye, or multigrain
  • 4 oz turkey breast deli-sliced or roasted leftovers
  • 1 slice cheese Swiss, Cheddar, Provolone, or Pepper Jack

Fresh Produce

  • 2 leaves romaine or iceberg lettuce
  • 2 slices ripe tomato
  • 4 slices cucumber
  • 0.25 ripe avocado sliced
  • 0.5 cup fresh spinach or sprouts

Condiments & Seasonings

  • 1 tablespoon mayonnaise or ranch dressing, honey mustard, or hummus
  • 1 pinch salt and black pepper to taste

Instructions

  • Prepare the fresh produce by washing and slicing the tomatoes, cucumbers, and avocado.
  • Toast the bread slices to your preferred level of crispness to ensure a sturdy foundation for the sandwich.
  • Spread your chosen condiment (mayonnaise, ranch, or honey mustard) evenly across one side of each bread slice.
  • Place the lettuce leaves on the bottom slice of bread first to act as a barrier, preventing the bread from becoming soggy.
  • Layer the turkey slices generously over the lettuce.
  • Add the slice of cheese on top of the turkey, followed by the tomato, cucumber, avocado, and sprouts.
  • Season the vegetables lightly with salt and pepper to enhance the fresh flavors.
  • Place the second slice of bread on top, secure the assembly with wooden picks, and slice diagonally for serving.
