Ingredients

  • 1 French baguette sliced into 1/2 inch rounds
  • 1/4 cup extra virgin olive oil
  • 8 oz Brie cheese sliced into small wedges or strips
  • 2 firm Anjou pears cored and thinly sliced
  • 1 cup whole berry cranberry sauce homemade or store-bought
  • 1/2 cup walnuts or hazelnuts toasted and roughly chopped
  • Fresh thyme leaves or rosemary sprigs for garnish
  • Orange zest optional
  • Balsamic glaze or honey for drizzling optional

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Arrange the baguette slices in a single layer on a large baking sheet.
  • Brush the top of each bread slice lightly with olive oil. Bake for 5-7 minutes, or until the edges are golden and crisp.
  • Remove the baking sheet from the oven. Place a slice of Brie cheese onto each toasted baguette round.
  • Return the pan to the oven and bake for another 3-5 minutes, until the cheese is melted and bubbly. (Watch closely to ensure the bread does not burn).
  • Remove from the oven. Top the melted Brie with a spoonful of cranberry sauce and a slice of fresh pear.
  • Sprinkle with chopped toasted nuts, fresh herbs, and a pinch of orange zest.
  • Finish with a drizzle of balsamic glaze or honey if desired, and serve warm.
