Ingredients

Peaches

  • 3 cups peaches fresh or canned

Dry Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups self-rising flour
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup cold butter cut into small pieces
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Toppings

  • 1 cup vanilla ice cream or whipped cream

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • Mix peaches with 1/4 cup of sugar. Let it sit for about 15 minutes, until the peaches start to release their juice.
  • In another bowl, whisk together the self-rising flour, remaining 1/4 cup of sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt.
  • Add the cold butter to the dry ingredients and use a pastry blender or your fingers to work the butter into the mixture until it resembles coarse crumbs.
  • Pour the peach mixture into a 9x9-inch baking dish and top with the crust mixture.
  • Bake for 40-45 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the fruit is bubbly.
  • Serve warm with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.
