Ingredients

Trifle Layers

  • 14 oz store-bought angel food cake cubed
  • 2 cups fresh strawberries hulled and sliced
  • 2 cups fresh blueberries

Whipped Cream

  • 2 cups heavy whipping cream
  • 0.25 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions

  • In a large mixing bowl, beat the heavy whipping cream, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract until stiff peaks form.
  • Place half of the cubed angel food cake into the bottom of a large trifle bowl.
  • Add an even layer of sliced strawberries, followed by half of the whipped cream.
  • Add the remaining angel food cake, then an even layer of blueberries, and top with the remaining whipped cream.
  • Garnish the top with remaining berries in a festive red, white, and blue pattern. Serve immediately or chill until ready to serve.

Notes

This dessert can be assembled a few hours ahead and refrigerated until serving. For an even quicker version, substitute homemade whipped cream with prepared whipped topping. Perfect for Independence Day celebrations, summer barbecues, and potlucks.
